Chapter 3 of Intern Diaries is all about Brighton.
If you need a little reminder, our intern Daniele de Rosa is creating a series of comic strips about his experience here in Brighton. The next in the series is about Brighton. He talks about the things that caught his attention in the city.
Daniele was surprised by the amount of seagulls flying around in Brighton. They’re everywhere! We say he’s lucky that none of the seagulls stole his lunch!
Two of Daniele’s favorite spots in the city are Brighton postcards in their own right: Brighton Pier and the Royal Pavilion. Daniele recommends a trip to the Pier to anyone who is looking for some fun. Meanwhile, the Pavilion was not really what he was expecting – while the outside is a very nice Indian-style building, what really caught Daniele’s attention was the Chinese-style decorations inside some of the rooms!
Finally, Daniele wanted to include the Graffiti. It is very prominent in parts of the city, and they can be true works of art. We organized a Street Art Tour for Daniele and his friends and it was one of the highlights of the week, for sure. After the tour, they created collages inspired by the graffiti.
Take a look at Daniele’s comic strip:

If the picture makes for difficult reading, here is the text, scene by scene:
Scene 1: One of the things that surprised me about Brighton are the seagulls: they are everywhere!
Scene 2: One of the best ways to have fun here is to go to the pier. It was one of the first places we went to.
Scene 3: Subsequently we also visited the Royal Pavilion. The Chinese-style decorations in it really fascinated me.
Scene 4: Then we made a collage using the photos we had taken from graffiti in the city.
